Biography

In January 2021, Rev. Dr. Gary K. G. Choong assumed the full-time role and responsibilities as the Dean of Academic Studies, and Senior Lecturer at the Baptist Theological Seminary (BTS), Singapore. He transitioned to the dean’s office after having served as a part-time lecturer in BTS from 2007 to 2020. His primary teaching disciplines include biblical study subjects, homiletics, and leadership.

At the same time, he was pastoring Covenant Community Baptist Church (2008-2019). Initially, he served as Advisory Pastor (2008-2012), and subsequently appointed as Senior Pastor in 2013 through early 2019, when he stepped down from this role. He had also earlier served as pastor in CCBC, 1990-96. He equipped the church leadership in the areas of team-building, strategic mission-vision casting, core-values clarifying, and lay-clergy team-preaching.

Gary is committed to the homiletical craft of expository preaching and the exercise of biblical-transforming, reflective-responsible leadership, wherever God places him to serve. He is also committed to equipping potential ones towards biblical, relevant, and clear communication of Scriptures with a view to strengthening the church pulpit; and leadership development towards spiritual formation of the heart, mind, and hand—integrity and godliness.
